Visa

// 1 April 2012 // Uncategorized

Hey guys! Oh oh! I got my visa! Exactly It’s just been approved. Anyway It’s in the office of Star Travel and I’ll get It this week and buy the tickets 🙂

P.s.

I’m gonna tell You about the interview at the consulate…
My interview was going to be on the 26th of March at 09:00, I was warned, that I’d better come earlier and get all the necessary documents. The employee of Star Travel came about half past eight and gave us our passports and other documents and warned that no bag or cellphone should be with us while interviewing? I think we got to do it for security reasons…we got to remove beltsfor not being captured by metal scanner. There were other students from othe agency in the queue and we got to wait for them.

Only 2 or even 1 person was allowed to enter the building at the same time. We handed over our passports and walked thru the metal scanner…twice! Then one more time on the 4th floor, a bit later we handed over our documents and fingerprinted. By the way, I couldn’t understand a word when I was asked to fingerprint. Were this because of the cold weather outside or the bulletproof glass 🙂 .

Then everyone was waiting for theirs turn. I was expecting that we’ll be noticed with our names (cause I read it in the book of the work&travel participant). There were 2 consuls and the queue to the male and no queue to the female, damned sexists :). I heard that male consul asked smb to sing the anthem of Russia and tell the recipe of borsch, I disliked such questions and decided to skip him and interview with the woman, by the way there was no queue and She approved almost all visas. The dialog was:
Consul: Hello. Good afternoon.

Me: Good morning.

– How Do You do?

– Fine, thanks. It’s cold out side…bitterly cold.

– Yeah, very cold 🙂 Where Are You gonna work?

I didn’t know what to answer, because I’ve misheard the question, but I wasn’t going to ask her repeat it and began to answer about my previous job.

– Last summer I’ve worked at the sushi-restaurant…

She smiled and told me that the question was about next job.

– This summer I’m going to work at The Giant Crab Restaurant in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

– What will You do?

– I’ll be working at the kitchen

– Okay. Good luck! Have a good summer!

I gave a sigh of relief and left the building. By the way, thar evening we were going to have a video-conversation with the students from the East Carolina University, this was kinda cool conversation 🙂
